Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how Zuan (“the App”) collects, uses, and protects your information. We are committed to ensuring that your data remains private and secure.
Data Collection and Processing
On-Device Processing
Zuan performs all AI transcription and audio processing entirely on your device. No audio data, transcripts, or personal content is sent to external servers for processing. Your content stays on your device at all times.

- Location data

Data Stored Locally on Your Device
The following data is stored locally on your device and is never transmitted to our servers:
- Podcast subscriptions and episode metadata — stored on-device and synced across your devices via Apple iCloud (CloudKit).
- Downloaded podcast episodes — stored in your device’s local storage.
- AI-generated transcripts — stored locally alongside cached media.
- Playback positions and preferences — stored locally using standard iOS storage mechanisms.
- Imported audio files — stored in the app’s local Documents directory.
iCloud Sync
Zuan uses Apple’s CloudKit to sync podcast subscriptions across your devices. This data is managed by Apple and is subject to Apple’s Privacy Policy. We do not operate any intermediate servers for this sync.
Third-Party Services
Podcast Search
Zuan uses the iTunes Search API and/or Podcast Index API to search for podcasts. When you search for a podcast, your search query is sent to these services to return results. No personal information is included in these requests.
Advertising
Zuan uses Google AdMob to display advertisements. AdMob may collect and use data as described in Google’s Privacy Policy. This may include:
- Device identifiers
- IP address
- General location (country/region level)
- Ad interaction data
You can control personalized advertising through your device’s privacy settings:
- Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking on your iOS device.
- Disable “Allow Apps to Request to Track” to limit ad personalization.
Zuan complies with Apple’s App Tracking Transparency (ATT) framework and will request your consent before enabling personalized ads.
Analytics
Zuan uses Google Firebase Analytics to collect anonymous usage data that helps us improve the app. This data is not linked to your identity and includes:
- Feature usage events (e.g., playback started, podcast subscribed, media imported)
- App session information (e.g., session duration, app version)
- General device information (e.g., device model, operating system version, country)
Firebase Analytics does not collect:
- Your name, email, or any personal identifiers
- Content of your transcripts or audio
- Specific listening history or playback content

RSS Feeds
When you subscribe to a podcast, Zuan fetches the podcast’s RSS feed directly from the publisher’s server. This is a standard HTTP request and may expose your IP address to the podcast host, as with any podcast app.
Data Retention
Since all user data is stored locally on your device, you have full control over your data:
- Delete app data by uninstalling the app.
- Delete individual items (transcripts, downloads, library items) within the app.
- Clear all cached data using the storage management feature in Settings.
Children’s Privacy
Zuan does not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. The App does not require account creation and does not collect personal data.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
